Orange You Glad It’s Friday?

Horrible grammar on the title I know.

But this week has been very colorful around my house, so to speak. Very, very busy, too!

My son just started kindergarten this year. For the past two weeks the kids have been learning about colors.  Yesterday, was brown day (we’ll save that day for monday’s post). A few days ago, it was orange.

It’s amazing how colorful your wardrobe may seem until you need a specific color. Lucky, my son had an orange shirt to wear to school, as did his sisters.

But clothing isn’t the only thing taking color around our house hold. This week, I’ve been painting the dining room, from a little episode you may remember in the spring with a permanent blue marker involved.

But what sprang out at me this particular day was the discovery of something else orange.

This little pumpkin has sprouted and is currently growing beside our front steps. It’s become a regular occurrence around here. Every year, we have pumpkins growing in the front yard. Kinda exciting for the kids. It signals when the fall season is here and Halloween is around the corner.

It all started three years ago, when we moved into a new house. We moved in november and my daughter insisted we bring her pumpkin with us that she hadn’t carved from Halloween. I sat the pumpkin on our porch, with so many houses looking the same in our new neighborhood, the pumpkin helped me from driving past my own driveway!

Needless to say,one day the pumpkin fell off the porch into the flowerbed below. It snowed and so we never moved the pumpkin and the next spring it was forgotten. Then in the fall, new pumpkins sprouted. For the past couple of years we’ve always gotten several pumpkins from the flower bed. This year, on orange day, we discovered one lone pumpkin. He’ll still make a grand jack o lantern!

It’s been a busy and colorful week. With plenty of writing on a new series, editing of old series, and family at large.

Orange you glad it’s friday?
