Purse Straps

Last week, I was about to walk out the door to church and saw that my purse strap was starting to break. A few day later, it was hanging by a thread!

I’d just bought a new purse a few months before, like were talking October and this is February. It never fails that the purse strap is the first thing to go on my handbags.

After years of carrying around diaper bags, it came as a relief to carry something more stylish and less dominating at my side. Yet, even though I’ve graduated from diaper bags to handbags, I still find myself with snacks, tissues, and baby wipes in my purse at all time. You never really graduate from diaper bags, you just down size.

Anyway, I’ve been looking for the perfect bag all week, and found it in a sewing pattern from McCall’s.

I like to have pockets. Pockets for pens, pockets for tablets, pockets, for my cellphone…. you get the idea.

So, I got out my sewing machine and made my own.

Sorry the picture is a little blurry.

I had enough fabric that I made a matching digital camera case. My camera has become one of those “don’t leave home” without items. I’m sure there’s other mom’s out there who will agree with me.

So that was my Sunday afternoon, and now I have a beautiful new handbag that I made myself.

Who knows, maybe one of my characters in my current WIP will maybe like to sew.  Until friday… what have you made lately?
