Is Your Book a Smash?

With all the new changes happening in SEO, my book binding team over on Etsy mentioned a key word I hadn’t heard of before. It’s called a “Smash Book”.  Now being a book enthusiast, I just had to know what a smash book was.

And just to clarify for all you funny guys, it isn’t a book that you smash. Really it isn’t.

Actually, I’ve been creating smash books for years and hadn’t even realized it. Perhaps some of you have too. A smash book, is really just a notebook filled with all your favorite things, like movie tickets from your first date, or that duck feather you found at the park, or a grocery list that had a special note on the bottom worth keeping.

I like to call mine a “book of firsts” as the dh and I started keeping little mementos in a journal and writing down special occasions we did together for the first time a long time ago. I guess we’ve been smashing years worth of memories into a journal all this time and didn’t realize it would be so popular!

EK Success and K & C Company have gone commercial with it. You can see K & C Company’s cute little video here.

I’ve done this numerous times with composition note books when I’m working on a book project. I write notes about my characters, take pictures from newspaper and magazines, and sometimes print them out on the computer as it helps me put the pieces of the story together. Who would have thought it would become so trendy?

And my big sisters never seem to think I’ve got style! LOL..

A smash book is actually like a big scrapbook of your favorite things. Bell and I played around with making some last weekend over in my shop that you can check  out here.

What do you think, is your book a smash?
