I’m Susan Lower, and I’m so glad you stopped in today.
My writing career began about ten years ago, when motherhood took hold and I stopped trying to balance corporate checkbooks for a living. I juggled taxes, payrolls, and bookkeeping at a few CPA firms and at Destiny Image, Inc (a Christian book publisher) before picking up my pen and putting my own stories to paper.
But really, it all started before that…
I grew up on a dairy farm in central Pennsylvania. I spent my summers tossing hay bales and meeting up with my cousins where we’d get lost on our horses through the backwoods trails for hours on those endless summer days. On weekends, my dad loaded us all up and we’d track to the 4-H shows.
But then one day, I traded in my quarterhorse mare for a husband, and soon children followed. Every day is a new adventure here in the Lower household. God has blessed us in countless ways, and continues to amaze me.
I write both women’s inspirational romance and middle-grade fiction. Like my children, it has brought me great joy to share my stories. I’m most grateful to my husband, who handed me a pen, and encouraged me to write.
In 2011, I was honored with to receive the Fritz Kemper Award for the pursuit of the writing craft from the Saint Davids Christian Writers Association.
When I’m not writing, you can find me creating hand bound books over at my small shop and inspiring creativity to others at www.mrschadt.com.
I teach workshops on both bookbinding and blogging. You can find my schedule here.
